Job Role – Contracts Manager & Head of Dept.

Full Time Permanent: 5 Days/Week
Normal Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
Wages: depending on experience

Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our company as a Contracts Manager as a head of department. We are seeking a candidate who has relevant experience within the construction industry. The candidate will demonstrate expertise in the estimation, planning and execution of jobs and projects from receipt of enquiry to final invoice on contracts ranging from £10k to £300k and will go the extra mile to ensure this is done to the set standard. They should be methodical, technically minded and an effective communicator with the ability to work in a team environment and under pressure. The role will require client contract and sub-contract formation and control, and the ability to develop relationships with clients for effective dispute resolution and to secure further works. Primary responsibilities will include: 
• Plan and execute contracts on time and budget
  – Work with other company staff to deliver a safe, efficient and cost effective service for every client through good organisation and sufficient cost control
  – Ensure policies and procedures are carried out by directly accountable team members and sub-contractors at all times
  – Develop team to perform their duties efficiently in the running of jobs and projects and undertake disciplinary and recruitment procedures where necessary
• Estimate and quote suitable enquiries/tenders in order to gain profitable work
  – Review customer enquiries and liaise with client, client’s agents, main contractors and site representatives etc. to gain information
  – Develop relationships with client representatives to understand their needs and promote company services
  – Review contracts and/or clients instructions to produce accurate quotes in order to secure profitable work
• Control budget and finance on all projects in department
  – Produce month end valuations and final accounts where necessary and collate all costs to ensure the projects is run to budget
  – Review and agree valuations and extras from sub-contractors

• Degree in a building related subject or level 5 NVQ (preferable)
• A-Levels or qualified to NVQ 4 Level in a building related subject (mandatory)
• GCSE Maths, English and Science (A-C)

• 15-20 years practical experience on commercial projects, most of which with small-medium company (not 1 big company – mandatory)
• Some site level experience during career
• Experience running projects of varying sizes with values £10,000 to £300,000
• Management of teams of up to 15 directly accountable employees
• Management of sub-contractors
