Types of Work Involved
- Groundwork & Civil Engineering
The works undertaken by Adamson Construction were to replace the faulty 130m2 road surfacing whilst the area was still in use by HGV traffic. The main issue was that the existing road surface was breaking up and causing rutting, which was then in turn causing Health and Safety issues.
To begin with traffic control was put into place to ensure the lorries in the area could still move safely. The area was then excavated to 400mm below the finished floor level. A landscape fabric was then installed over compacted soil, before type 1 road stone in 2 x 100mm layers was placed and compacted to Highway Authorities and Utilities Committee (HAUC) specification.
The hot rolled surfacing was then installed, made up of 150mm of Tarmac base course compacted and topped with 50mm of wearing course.
