The Project

Adamson Construction worked as the main contractor to build a new steel frame structure for an extension to a factory. The challenge was to demolish part of the existing building and build an extension while the factory was in production.

The project included new foundations for the extended outside walls. A steel structure was erected by a specialist sub-contractor. A composite panel 200mm thick was fitted to the steel structure to form the walls, then a corrugated Steel cladding was fixed over the top as a weatherproof skin to match in with the surrounding building.

For the roof, a 200mm insulation was used and cut to falls for drainage. To finish the roof build-up, a fully welded Sika-Trocal membrane covering was applied.

The 200mm concrete floor was laid and topped with a Flowcrete Mondeco epoxy resin finished floor, ground, polished and sealed. The project was finished off by plastering the inside of the exterior wall which was then painted with a food-safe paint.
